Seriously, the so-called Roman Republic a democracy?

Caesar to me is one of history’s great figures, and the Roman Senate, well, we know what party they’d belong to today! 😉

The Roman Republic had been going through a bad patch. But it did at least pay lip service to democracy and the rule of law. The Empire was simply a dictatorship.
